    My advice is to let your students have a choice. It’s amazing how much enthusiasm you can generate by simply putting it back into their hands. Students appreciate that you recognise their autonomy, and will give you respect for it. From my limited experience this has been the case – I managed to make an incredibly unmotivated Year 9 class literally leap out of their chairs when I told them they could pick their own homework task from a range of options… Enthusiasm for homework, who would have imagined it?
